其实想看1925原版的The House behind the Cedars的，Chesnutt到底为啥对Micheaux的改编不满意啊？过于保守了吗hhhhh反正现在这部也是残片，单从已有的叙事来说没逃掉导演惯用的Blackness self-assurance和miscegenation主题，女主仍旧是坚强又勇敢（Lucille Lewis会演！）外加标配歌舞段记录。区别可能是Fayetteville比较upper class（也许是原著的原因）所以人物对话的主题都好高级哦【uplift philosophy对非裔来说是个myth，就跟light skin在银幕上的呈现也不能改变Blackness stereotypes一样

1.直到这一部Micheaux才算终于适应了有声片的拍摄，不再为对白和录音牺牲**和强求对话场景，构图好了不少；虽然现存影片缺了不少东西，但还是能看得进去。2.Micheaux再次在混血的话题上做文章：浅色混血女主要在富有的浅色黑人和深爱的深色男友间抉择，故事设计是水准以上的。3.最后的踢踏舞也很喜欢，这才是在剧**中加入歌舞的恰当方式。
